Application process & guidelines

Make your registration on the bookings page via Eventbrite before 11 October.

Following registration and payment, applicants will be contacted individually and asked to provide the following to complete their application before 18 October:

  • Contact information

  • A short author bio (up to 50 words)

  • A writing sample of up to 3000 words (or 10 pages)

  • Several short statements of intent regarding the Printable program.

Staff or tutors from Queensland Writers Centre will assess all submissions and will select writers for the Program. In the event your application is unsuccessful your Program fee will be refunded in full. In the event your application is successful no further payment is required.

The Program is for Australian writers of all forms – unpublished or published – that are ready to focus on improving their brand, including freelancers, screen practitioners, poets, genre writers, literary writers, non-fiction writers, comic/graphic novel writers.

  • Applicants must be Australian citizens or permanent residents in Australia, and must currently reside in Australia.

  • If applicants are under 16 years and are selected, they will need permission from their guardian to continue.

  • The event will be made available via live stream for a limited number of participants. Priority is reserved for writers who require remote access and are otherwise unable to attend the program in-person - regional and interstate writers, writers with disability, etc.

  • A minimum number of places in the program will be reserved for Queensland-based writers.

Bookings close: 11 October
Application materials due: 18 October (must be received before Consult)
Pre-workshop Consults: 12 - 25 October
Printable workshop day: 29 October
Follow-up Consults: Late November                  


Application materials will be disposed of securely once QWC completes the selection process. QWC will record and keep information provided on the application form for 9 months.
